Alexander is born

Alexander Kenneth Eliot was born on November 21st, 2018 at 9:29am in Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.  He weighed 7lbs, 9oz and was 21 inches long.

Alexander (which means "Defender of the people") was chosen because it is a strong and classic name, both in Russian and English, and indeed around the world in many languages.  The name has long been used by Jewish families, as Alexander the Great was known for kindness towards the Jewish nation.

Alec was chosen as a nickname, which is also used in both Russian and English and which also pays homage to Alfred, Alec's great grandfather.

Kenneth is in honor of Kenneth C. Hammer, who was the youngest brother of Alec's great grandfather Robert Hammer.  Kenny was a WWII fighter pilot who flew a P-47 Thunderbolt.  Kenny flew on D-Day and, thereafter, was stationed near the Cretteville airstrip, living with his fellow pilots of the 358th FG, 366th FS (the "Orange Tails") in a Norman castle.  Kenny flew daily missions in support of the advancing American Army, attacking German Panzer tanks and strafing German positions.  Kenny was KIA by flak on a reconnaissance mission near Domfort, France on August 10, 1944.  He was 21 years old.

It is noted that Alexander Eliot arrived with a banker's calculated precision: one day after father Peter had his last day of work before going on paternity leave, one day before Dr. Morrison had to leave town for three days, the same day that renovations to the house were completed, and at the very civilized hour of 9:30am (45 seconds prior, to be exact).
